If you think you're excited for the 2012 Volkswagen Beetle, just imagine how thrilled the audience members of The Oprah Winfrey Show must have been when they learned they'd be receiving one for FREE as a part of the show's "Ultimate Favorite Things" giveaway? The vehicle's iconic silhouette was shown off on the show on November 22^nd, 2010, just before Oprah announced that every audience member would be getting the keys to one as soon as the vehicle launched, in 2011.

Half the fans in the audience thought Oprah was joking as she exclaimed on stage, "This is one powerful, sophisticated, sexy Beetle... All of you in this audience will be [among] the first people in the world to own one when it makes its debut next year!"¹ But, as it turns out, she was dead serious, though the fans were in for a bit of a wait for their new ride.

Since then, the fans have indeed been waiting patiently for the German automaker to deliver the vehicle at U.S. dealerships, such as Atlantic Auto Group. On October 13^th, the big day finally came, and lucky recipients across the country were finally handed the keys to their new car.
